Kate Swan is a postgraduate research student undertaking a masters on 16th century Irish dress at the University of Sydney, where she also obtained a bachelor’s degree in arts with majors in archaeology and English.
She researches North-Western European dress and textiles, with particular focus on Ireland and Scotland, pre-1600.
She is actively involved in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), and uses the events associated with this group as opportunities to re-create historic dress and experience wearing it daily. Her name in this group is Edda Oddadottir.
Kate is a confident teacher and has experience lecturing and teaching handcraft skills related to her research. She takes commissions for historical clothing and textiles.
